The previous entries didn't check their vacuum cleaners...
After reading the previous reviews, I realized that the three of them all made the same mistake. They didn't check to make sure the filter would be compatible with the year and model of their cleaners.When I decided to buy my filter, I checked www.DirtDevil.com, looked at the sticker at the bottom of my vacuum, and checked three more sites. I only made my purchase after I was positive that I had the correct part. Apparently, the other reviewers did not.Before purchasing anything, make doubly sure it's the correct item. And if you aren't 100% positive, do some reasearch. Five minutes of online web surfing can save you hours of frustration.

These filters are great! You get two for the price of one anywhere else AND you really can wash them! I didn't really believe it because the ones from Hoover are made of flimsy paper, but these are sturdy and washable. Decent replacement filters
I bought these recently and so far they are working well. Instead of the thick coffee filter like paper that the normal, non-washable filters are made of, these are made of a plastic material with small holes. They still do a good job of collecting the dust, and I haven't noticed an increase in dust getting through to the next layer of filter. Although they do not come with washing instructions, I just took it outside and rinsed it off with the hose. Seamed to work fine.

Nice Surprise
First off, this is not an OEM filter (not manufactured by Hoover). It is manufactured by Crucial Vacuum. But that's not a problem because these are actually much better than the OE part.These are true HEPA standard filters and fit VERY tightly to eliminate filter bypass. The reviews that say they don't fit are incorrect. They fit, just very snugly. It'll take a few tries to assemble the filter canister.The vacuum already has a HEPA exhaust filter, but that doesn't protect the mechanical internals from dust buildup (whereas these do,) and it's not zero bypass so fine particles will re-enter the room.Also, these are WASHABLE with water! (Visit the Crucial Vacuum website for washing instructions.) This doubles the filter life to 6 months and makes these much cheaper than the OE filters.I'm very pleased with this surprise, I just wish the Amazon review accurately described the brand.

makes the old new again!
I read all the reviews good and bad, and went for it anyway. I'm glad I did cause it made my old vaccume like new again. The lil vac attachment had stopped working and I took it apart and put it back together again and that didn't help but I put in the new filter and it is a bit harder to get in but that is only the first time after that it's easy pease, but the lil attachment worked!!! will be buying again when I need a new one!

Fit like a charm, works great.

Amazon, apparently knowing how passionate I am about such things, has asked me to review the dust cup filter I recently purchased from them.What can I say about the Eureka 62396 Eureka Dust Cup Filter, aka DCF 10? This thing filters dust! And it's in a cup shape that fits handily into the space that the old dust cup filter came out of, making it an appropriate replacement for the old Eureka 62396 Eureka Dust Cup Filter - DCF-10 that I had to throw out because it got moldy. Hint: if you have a moldy dust cup filter, do not turn your vacuum cleaner on. It will smell up your house real quick, I'll tell you what. Unless you want your house to small like an old wet towel that someone's left under the porch.Dust cup filter! Eureka!

I agree with the other person's comment that the filter cloggs fast but look at its size, of course it will clog fast. You will need to give the filter some TLC but you don't need to throw it away and especially twice a month. Get some canned air or a Bicycle pump with a needle valve to concentrate the air or better use a compressor to blow the dust and debris right out of it.

DCF10 is better than DCF14
Filter Type Dcf-10I have two Optima vacumns, one for downstair and garage, one for upstair. I have two dogs. I replaced the original filter (dcf10) with the newDcf 14. I like the Dcf 10 so much better. It is durable after many wash and much easier to install. Dcf 14 is made of some kind of fabric the catches the dirt and it is very delicate.

Gave my vac second life
Was gonna buy new vacuum here on Amazon until this filter popped up on my suggestion list. I thought to give it a try since it's pretty cheap. My vac wasn't giving much suction at all. Wasn't even picking up loose dirt anymore. After putting this filter in, the suction skyrocketed to brand new power again. From not being able to pickup loose dirt to actually lifting up ~heavy objects again depending on its shape and "grab-ability".

Good as new
As good as the original at a cheaper price. One of the advantages of this design is that it can be washed and reused. After a year or so, it gets hard to keep clean, and then it is easy and cheap to replace.It is just like the original in my Eureka Maxima, which is a couple of years old. (I replaced the belt at the same time and it is like new.)
